About the Role
As Head Waiter, you will lead restaurant and waiter operations across the hotel while ensuring guests receive efficient, professional, and memorable hospitality experiences. You will coordinate service activities, supervise waiter staff, support room service operations, and maintain smooth communication between restaurant, kitchen, and hotel departments.
You will directly manage a team of five waiters and ensure the team delivers excellent service standards consistently across restaurant dining, room service, private events, and guest hospitality operations.
The role requires a hands-on hospitality professional who can lead by example, maintain calm during busy operations, and deliver service standards expected within luxury UK hotel environments.
Key Responsibilities
Restaurant & Guest Dining Operations
- Lead daily restaurant service operations during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events.
- Welcome guests professionally and create a positive dining experience from arrival to departure.
- Ensure guests receive attentive, timely, and personalised service throughout their visit.
- Monitor food presentation, table setup, and service quality continuously.
- Coordinate closely with chefs and kitchen teams to ensure smooth food service delivery.
- Handle guest concerns and service requests professionally and efficiently.
Team Leadership & Staff Supervision
- Manage and supervise a team of five waiters during daily hotel operations.
- Allocate waiter sections and responsibilities effectively across service areas.
- Monitor staff performance and maintain professional hospitality standards.
- Train and mentor waiter staff on customer service, dining etiquette, and hotel procedures.
- Conduct shift briefings and communicate operational priorities clearly.
- Support teamwork and maintain strong staff coordination during busy service periods.
Room Service & Hotel Hospitality Support
- Supervise room service operations and ensure timely delivery to guest rooms.
- Coordinate waiter activities throughout restaurant and hotel dining areas.
- Support banquet services, conferences, private dining functions, and hotel events.
- Work closely with housekeeping and front office teams to support guest satisfaction.
- Ensure all guest-facing service areas maintain luxury hospitality standards.
Operational Standards & Compliance
- Follow UK food hygiene regulations and hotel health & safety procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and professionalism across service operations.
- Monitor restaurant supplies, service equipment, and dining presentation standards.
- Support management with operational improvements and service quality initiatives.
- Ensure all waiter operations reflect professional UK hospitality expectations.
